Gateway Park & Preserve is located at the northern edge of Marengo and occupies the southern bank of the Iowa River. The 131 acre site includes a 41 acre lake and a 12 acre pond which were created through the excavation of sand and gravel for a concrete business. The park is currently open for fishing and contains a boat ramp for access to the Iowa River. There is also a bird viewing tower. Biking and hiking trails are located along the river's levy.
